Trenino Rosso del Bernina
One of the worlds most spectacular railway lines, a triumph of engineering and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2008, the famous little red train cuts through the Alps, connecting Northern Europe to the South.
The Rhaetian Railway is the highest altitude railway tract in the Alps, reaching nearly 2250 meters, and one of the steepest friction-based railways in the world, with inclines that reach up to 7%. Riding in the comfortable panoramic cars of the Trenino del Bernina is a magical experience, to be experienced at least once in ones lifetime; the views are breathtaking, unique, emotionally stirring.
On its journey from Tirano to St. Moritz, in both summer and winter, the Trenino del Bernina passes through some of the worlds most striking landscapes, crossing lush green meadows and the imposing glaciers of the Bernina and passing alongside rivers and lakes. Passengers can leave the train and explore typical Alpine villages, or hike through the Swiss Alps, following one of the many well-marked itineraries.
