Percorso DiVino - 5st stop

Continuing along the way there are no more chapels to mark our path, but ancient winepresses instead. They tell the story of a centuries-old wine production which allowed local farmers to contribute to the well-being of a community. A tradition that has redesigned the natural environment of the Rhaetian side of Valtellina through the practice of terracing.

We have now reached the heart of Castione: small inhabited areas fit harmoniously into the terraced landscape, while the presses, which were more than 30 in the 15th century, almost look like small factories here, witnessing a production that still continues today according to the most advanced methods of oenological science. Here, we can rediscover and savour tradition, research and innovation by visiting one of the local cellars, where we can stop before resuming our journey.
