Palazzo Besta di Teglio

It is the most important renaissance palazzo in Valtellina, and one of the most interesting in all of Lombardy. Elegant and refined, it is embellished by frescoes portraying episodes from the Aeneid, Orlando Furioso, Ovid’s Metamorphoses and biblical scenes.

At the heart of the palazzo there is a marvelous cloistered courtyard whose light vaulted ceilings are contrasted by the frescoed walls and multi-colored medallions. The Antiquarium is located on the ground floor and contains several steles from the Copper Age, important prehistoric relics from the Valtellina, including a Mother Goddess.
