Palazzo Malacrida in Morbegno
Dating to the eighteenth century, the palazzo is the most admirable example of rococo architecture in Valtellina. Its halls are grand and refined, decorated with stuccoes, spectacular visual illusions and architectural perspective views.
It is situated in the upper part of Morbegno, in the heart of the ancient quarter of Scimicą. The exterior, of sober design, belies the contents of the opulently decorated interiors, among which the grand salon stands out, imposing and refined, with striking architectural perspective views that create the illusion of an extensive, multi-colored garden. Behind the palazzo are the Italian style formal gardens, on three terraced levels, from which one can look down on the village of and the terraced slopes of the Costiera dei Cech.
